Exhibits include 90 photographs, maps, and documents, the majority of which come from the museum collection. Presented in Czech and German, the display captions describe Schindler’s life in Svitavy, Krakow, and at the work camp in Brnenec. Also on display is a copy the famous Schindler’s List and the post war honours Schindler received. Czech, German, and English documentary films the museum was able to acquire for its archives are also available for viewing. WE THEN MOVE ON TO THE SCHINDLER FACTORY CCA. 7 MILES AWAY. Authors various comments: Schinder’s original factory was located in Poland. This was the relocated site in his home town. He brought with him most of his Jewish workers by insisting/bribing the SS to allow him to do so. Please be aware we cannot guarantee anything beyond a glimpse of the factory! Since WW II it’s had a succession of owners all of whom have failed to make a success of their respective businesses. Maybe some kind of jinx!! The place is in a state of disrepair, and adjoining the factory are some “run down” housing accommodation. If we are lucky and find a nice caretaker on duty we may be able to go inside the building. We are working on something to provides official access and will update here, as, and when. Having said all of that, we feel it is too important of a “shrine” to exclude from our tour. All factory artefact are in the nearby museum. FACTORY SITE UPDATE. WE ARE ADVISED NEW OWNERS ARE IN PLACE. THEY INTEND TO REFURBISH THE ENTIRE COMPLEX AND MODERNISE THE FACTORY. AS SUCH WE CANNOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING BEYOND AN OUTSIDE GLIMPSE OF THE FACTORY
